Origin acquires interest in Newcastle’s Allegro Energy and agrees to long duration storage trial at Eraring

Although in its early stages, Andiron are hugely excited to be working with Allegro Energy, a Newcastle based startup revolutionising sustainable energy solutions. Their water-based energy solutions are used to create batteries and large scale, long-duration energy storage. Their high-performance products are 100% recyclable and non-flammable.

Origin Energy has acquired a 5% stake in Allegro and has agreed to a pilot of their long duration Redox Flow battery at Eraring Power Station.

Origin’s head of energy supply and operations, Greg Jarvis said, “We are pleased to be making an investment in what we view as a very promising technology. We believe long duration storage will ultimately play an important role in the energy mix, and we look forward to watching the progress of this trial and seeing how this technology could complement other storage projects within Origin’s portfolio.”

Andiron is committed to collaborating with ground-breaking businesses who are challenging the status quo and creating a paradigm shift in how we think, live and work.
